As many students now know, the new Jesuit Athletics page has been launched. With major changes  made to the page, it now looks better than even most college athletic pages.

This summer, Athletic Director Coach Steve Koch approached Mr. Chris Ackels, now our Sports Information Director, and Mr. Kramer, the Director of Communications, asking to increase the web presence on the athletic page. This was the perfect team to have work on the website, with Mr. Kramer having recent experience working on colleges’ athletic pages.

Ackels has worked hard on the website, and in only his first year at Jesuit, has quickly become well-known and respected. Along with producing content on the website, Ackels has also built up Jesuit’s broadcasting organization, with every basketball game now live on the radio.

Since this summer, these two as well as Mr. Mullen, the school’s webmaster, have been working extensively with SIDEARM Sports to get the site up and running. SIDEARM Sports is a company that helps design college athletics pages. Recently, they finished formatting the website and since then, Ackels and Kramer have worked hard to fill in the website with a lot of content.

A few  notable items to look for on the website:

• All of Jesuit’s 19 sports are now going to be covered, with a recap of many of the games, as well as a column on the front page for athletic events taking place that day.
• The “Ranger of the Week” will profile an outstanding athlete.
• A section devoted fully to broadcasting, with links that will allow the viewer to listen to the games broadcast live.
• Text alert systems that provide fans with current news.
• A section devoted fully to the Blue & Gold Sports Hall of Fame, which lists all previous winners, easily located.
• A section that contains a full list of every state championship Jesuit has ever won, as well as Jesuit alumni in pro sports, and the history of Jesuit athletics.
• A full list of every Jesuit coach and a short bio of their stories, as well as their contact information.

This article does no justice for how good the site actually looks and how different it is. This website will undoubtedly make it much easier to follow  Jesuit athletics.
