In the primary election on March 1st, the three campaigns of Frymire, Nuchereno, Mancillas, and Wunderlick vied for the student body’s vote, a vote that would determine the leaders of the school for the 2016-2017 school year.

In a historic finish, the campaigns of Mancillas-Jackson and Wunderlick-Kelley engaged in a virtual tie, only separated by three votes. This brought the school to a runoff election, a winner-take-all competition after the close result.

This Tuesday, 480 voters (60% of the student body) turned out to vote. The majority chose the pair of Steven Mancillas and Evan Jackson to lead the 2016-17 school year.

The Mancillas statement to The Roundup:

Evan and I thank the entire school for their support in the Student Body Election. The remarkable turnout in Tuesday’s election only further indicates that everyone is ready for change within the Student Council. We plan to encourage this productive change as a representative of each and every one of the students here. Evan and I invite anyone to reach out and contact us with their ideas for next year, and we look forward to dedicating ourselves fully to improving Jesuit in every way possible.
